Day 27

Javier and I rarely get to see Oscar-nominated movies before they come out on DVD, never mind before the Academy Awards. We considered ourselves lucky to have been able to see "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", which was delicious in its own ways, especially scenes with the the young-looking Brad Pitt. Oh yummy.

Then this past weekend, we snuck our for a date to "Slumdog Millionaire". Actually, it wasn't really sneaking, everything was completely on the up-and-up.

What a movie...if you haven't seen it, please go. This movie was absolutely breathtaking. I can't properly describe it, so I won't even make an attempt. Just know it is very Oscar worthy.

And as an added bonus - there is a Bollywood-style dance routine at the closing credits.

I LOVE watching Bollywood dancing. Watching movies like, "Monsoon Wedding" and "Bride and Prejudice" get me making my own bollywood moves and then I can't stop humming for days afterwards and twisting my arms in the air. I look utterly stupid, but it makes me happy.

I was absolutely thrilled when Lizzie chose a song for her upcoming interpretive skate routine with some Indian elements. We watched "Cheetah Girls - One World" this summer (remember our "Ch" themed meal?) and Lizzie chose the theme song for her routine. We and her choreographer have been watching Youtube videos for inspiration and I can't wait to start working on her dress. Think sari and bindi dots.

I was going to say I enjoyed it, very much, but that's not exactly true. The first half was hard to take in; I felt very stressed out by the childrens' early life.

But the ending: Very sweet.
