Setting the scene for some tears

Yesterday was a spectacularly productive day. I made 2 dozen muffins, 3 dozens cookies, lemon bars, & ham/cheese scones. Two loads of laundry. Folded and put away. And did all the dishes.

And then I collapsed. Just like the curtain rod I spent much of today trying to install. And that's pretty much all I accomplished. The problem with having a GUM day is that the energy required to sustain it generally runs in one day increments. And the following day little gets done.

Apparently the $36.83 curtain rod I purchased from Walmart is just not quality goods. Imagine that. I gave up about 5:00 this evening. I wanted to cry, I really did. But Lizzie had a play date and I just couldn't show my weakness in front of the children. So I settled for temporarily hanging the curtains from oddly positioned cup hooks I discovered hiding under my blinds. Don't they look pretty?

Don't worry. I don't think so either.

And look what else I did yesterday.

Yeah, it's pretty much black. For this, I can only blame hormones.

i like your acronym - GUM. not so good at being GUM. no schedule, slacker mom is more my speed. like right now. just got home from the fair, fed the kids tamales, should be putting them in bed because it is a school night, and instead i'm on the internet. total slacker.

I have wizzy days...then sit down....and that's it...total collaspe!

I have opposite hair prob. the children say the highlights make me look like a tabby cat!

Okay, the muffins looked fab, even if the cranberries got too smooshed. The curtains will look cute once you figure out the rod. And your hair... I could get used to it. It's very dramatic!

Being a GUM is tough -- but you are making an excellent effort. I'm still just thinking about it. isn't that enough?

Gah, I hate it when I buy something and it turns out to be cheapy-cheap. I hope that you can at least take them back, get your money returned, and find something heftier. The curtains are cool though!

Isn't it the truth though about energy? I always seem to have a super-high energy day followed by a day of needing to recuperate.

P.S. Yesterday was super productive, so I'm sure you can imagine my lack-of-production morning today. I'll eventually make it to the shower. Soon. Really. I promise. *yawn*

What are you going to do with all that food? Need any help eating it?

I so wish I could raid your freezer (and especially want a sample of the lemon bars)! Way to be productive. Question - Are you wanting to hang the curtains inside or over the window? If inside, I have a thought ... go back to Walmart, exchange the expensive non-working rod and pick up two of the cheapie extendo rods (and a small package of dark chocolates for being uber-GUM) and cover them with fabrick ... you'll still have $ left over, too. :)

I kind of like the dark hair - you sure it's nearly black? if not, you can always add some fun chocolate-cherry or caramel highlights for a little sass. :)

I like you with the dark hair....I really do! What does Javier think?
You must return those rods and get your money back!

You and your computer cam! I'm not that advanced here! I think some red, pink or purple streaks might be a nice way to brighten it up!

Glad to read that others are having decorating challenges. Misery loves company!

Gosh, I hate it when things like that happen. Hanging curtains can be so frustrating too!

I do agree with you that energy and determination come in spurts. You have another spurt coming, I can feel it!

Good luck with the hair! I did that to my hair recently and then bought a box of Color Oops! to strip the black out. Luckily my hair didn't fall out at the same time. Yikes!

Nice blog!
