From big & fat to a drowned rat

Consider this the INTERIM shot. The prisoner on his was to be beheaded, I mean shaved. Actually from the yowling that was going on  on the way, you would think it was a beheading. Note to self: Gravol really doesn't settle a cat down very much!

Okay, now if you have to laugh, please leave the room. Cats are very sensitive, you know.

Here we have the AFTER shot. Ignore the red eyes, I don't think he's THAT angry.

He's doing pretty well, considering. He meowed as per usual on the way home, but he's playing lots so I think it's all okay. He must have a lot of kitty confidence to pull of this look!

I've never had so much difficulty taking a picture of him. He just will not sit still for a decent picture. He's a little more svelte than I was anticipating. I guess the hair really does add bulk. Admittedly, he looks a bit like a drowned rat right now, not my cuddly little Ollie. Rain keeps hissing at him, maybe she thinks I've brought home another cat.

I do feel kind of bad for having his fur shaved, but I think he will have a much more comfortable summer. Plus, we were reaching the point where we have cat hair EVERYWHERE, so it was either the hair went or Oliver was taking a permanent trip to a farm, any farm, anywhere. So this is him. My poor boy, what have I done to you?

We had to have our persian-mix shaved before. He hid out for a good while until the fur grew back. We thought it might have been because the neighborhood cats were laughing at him.

Oh poor baby! I had to shave a kitty once years ago...it was a little traumatic for a bit but I think he liked it after a day or so...

Okay, I left the room to laugh. Not because he doesn't look terrific - it's a pretty awesome 'do - but his face seems to say "I'm a leper; go away from me."

And the other cat hissing at him is priceless. Leaving the room again...

Can we still be friends even though I tell you that I detest cats, and when I saw these photos, I smiled a deep smirk inside?

I.am.so. bad.

WOW! I've never seen anyone do this before. I love the bushy tail! LOL!

At least he looks cooler... er...temperature wise.

Yikes! A shaved cat?! All the other kitties will jeer at him! Poor Ollie! (Hope your vacuum is happy for the summer!)

I think he looks good. The groomer did a good job! I'm sure he'll be happier during the hot summer months!

I admit, I laughed out loud!
You need to scrowl down and read my cat story in my blog!!

We have to have this done to one of our cats too--for some reason she doesn't groom herself anymore. It is definitely not a pretty sight.

poor kitty! probably much more comfy though (both for cat & owner)... is he a Ragdoll? We have a ragdoll and his face looks just like our little guy. (Our "little" guy is 20 lbs +, lol). Very cute photos!

I shave my half chow-chow like a lion and she loves it! Way cooler (temperature wise) and we did it once to our cat. It was good for her as well in the summer heat, but she's more difficult to deal with so we did it just once. I think it's a great idea. My cat was really happy afterwards, more energetic and affectionate. Cute pic!
