Tooth fairies

Umm, what does the tooth fairy that visits your house do with your children's teeth? The tooth fairy around here has difficulty parting with things and has a little collection of them. Someone told her (the local tooth fairy) that it's kind of morbid and probably really gross.

Please advise.

My friend just asked this question on facebook, and I assure you most mommies have a little collection of their babies' teeth. You are totally normal! LOL!
ps Did you see my post today? Great minds...

Our particular fairy is a wee bit delicate and struggles with the lifting of pillows, and because she works in secret, she can't pick up my daughter's tooth without waking the insomniac up.

So, we have a landing dock now, centrally located.

It has been a fine arrangement.

I got lucky on this one. My kids always wanted to keep their teeth, at least that's what they said on the notes they left for the Toothfairy. Yes, they left notes : ) Toothfairy still has them.

Personally I would probably ditch them because that kind of stuff grosses me out and you can't keep it forever. However, my mother inlaw still has all that stuff and she's in her late 60's! Yikes!

I understand it would be hard to toss them. Little ones go through so much pain to get them that it seems thoughtless just to ditch them in the garbage! I haven't confronted the situation yet. My turn is coming.

Stu has lost 5 now and I have them all in a baggie stashed in my underwear drawer (only place in the entire house where they may be safe from prying eyes, don't want to spoil the magic yet...)
Now that you mention it, it does seem a bit creepy to keep them. Hmmm. Just not ready to part with them I guess (those teeth were paid for with lots of sleepless nights and rashes).
I really had meant to only keep the first one.

Being a teacher it is amazing what that fairy leaves these days...one student got $10! I was happy with a quarter and a pack of gum! There is a story book about how the tf uses the teeth to build her castle, I like that thought.

My Dad is an orthodontist so naturally all the teeth were saved in our house LOL Now that my daughter is 5 I'm sure we'll do the same.

I think saving grown up teeth would be morbid but our children's teeth are so little and cute and tiny and after all we did watch them come in bit by bit during teething. Saving them is not much different than saving a lock of hair or taking a photograph. All capture moments in time..

I wonder if cousin Sassy even remembers this but our Grandmother kept all of the grandchildren's teeth in a jar and collected them in return for a handsome sum! Tooth fairy, be damned! Take those teeth to Baba!

We often wonder what became of that jar full of teeth, and I mean right full. Hundreds of teeth!
