Unbelievable

I dropped little Lizzie off at a birthday party this afternoon. Can you believe one of the activities was NOSE piercing. I thought you need adult permission to do this? What are parents thinking? Now my little Lizzie is disfigured forever. See how awful she looks!

Okay, okay. I'm totally kidding. The nose ring is a fake. I admit I thought about not confessing right away in a shameless attempt to increase my comments. Any publicity is good publicity, right?

The birthday party was at a local belly dancing studio. The girl's all got dressed up in outfits supplied by the studio, complete with bindis.

I didn't get to stay at the party because I had work to do at home. Apparently belly dancing is "REALLY, REALLY FUN", says Lizzie. Ideas for Lizzie's 11th birthday are swirling around in my head.

Aw, this was a really good idea for a birthday party.

When X was a little younger, I wish that I would have taken advantage of a birthday service that the local (nonprofit) fine arts center offered. There were several options, like an origami party. Last year, two sisters who have the same birthday invited X to a party where they first went to a local catering service, and they each made their own apple pies. After that, they had lunch at a local state park.

So, that's my input. :)

Fantastic idea - My Miss 17 would love those Bollywood clothes.

Um, do they do parties for 38 year olds? Because that looks way more fun than cake and ice cream.

Kidding me!!! You have got to be kidding me! That is a brilliant party idea... I am totally going to bogart this for Loopy, if she will allow! And costumes! Totally Bollywood. Lurrve it to bits. Lizzie looked cute with the nose ring, BTW.

Hmm, wouldn't it be cool if Lizzie had an aunt she could invite to that party, who bellydanced for three years ... who had her own costume ... and zils (finger cymbals) ... and veil ... and cane ...
