Battle of the inner selves

I have an overly ambitious bedtime self. Bedtime self thinks its a good idea to go for a run at 6:00am. Prime study time, thinks bedtime self, so quiet and uninterrupted. How about getting up early to read the newspaper or just enjoy some alone time? Bedtime self even decided to make a cake one early morning. A cake? Silly bedtime self.

Morning self grumbles when the alarm goes off, gets out out bed before Javier pushes her out, and stumbles downstairs to feed the kitties. And curls up on the couch for a few more zzzz's. Morning self is lazy & selfishly climbs into Lizzie's bed for a few more minutes.

I envy people who can go with little sleep. I had an instructor who woke up every morning at 5:00am, even on her days off. Granted, she was slightly obsessive, but think about how much she accomplishes every morning, while I am still slumbering away.

I try to convince bedtime self that morning self will NEVER agree to exercising at 6:00am or preparing elaborate baked breakfasts for my family, but to no avail. Bedtime self is very optimistic, you see.

I love this post. It is so descriptive and really hits the nail on the head for me too. My bedtime self is also on the over enthusiastic side, only rarely will morning self cooporate fully with the plans that bedtime self had put into my head the night before.

I agree that 7:00 a.m. seems to be the most sensible wakeup time of all. Unfortunately, I lose so much me time when I sleep until 7:00. I think I'll be returning to my 6:00 a.m. wakeup time soon to capture some time, now that sunlight is emerging earlier and earlier!

There is a great stretch of green space by unused railroad tracks near where I just moved, and I always think how lovely it will be to wake up early and go for a jog there ... and I don't jog. Bedtime selves just don't have a grip on reality.

Hello!

I am such a morning person and I wish I wasn't. The rest of my family (husband and two daughters) are night owls. I go to bed late and still wake up before 7:00. I wish I could sleep in. I usually have a small nap in the afternoon if I get up to early:) We homeschool are daughters so are day is what-ever we choose. I can let the girls sleep a bit if I want but most days I wake them up early thinking they would want to go to bed early wrong they seem to get a second wind around 8:00:)

Oh well I try to get on their schedule? I guess my mind just does the opposite.

Great Blog!
